Frequently asked questions

How many sessions will I need? – This varies enormously and depends on what issues you bring, and we will discuss this. Initially, we will work together for 6 sessions and then review the process. After that, if you wish to continue, we will agree to open-ended work, with regular reviews to track progress.

Short term counselling focuses on a specific problem, such as a major life event and for some people, this is sufficient to resolve the particular issue that has brought them to see a therapist. For others, longer-term therapy which is a deeper exploration of their situation is more useful.
Without starting to work together it isn’t possible to predict exactly how many sessions you will need. However, at our initial meeting, we will agree on an ideal time frame. We can then review this time frame at any point during the work, depending on how we feel we are progressing.

How much will each session cost? – The cost is £50 per 50 minute session.

What about confidentiality? – I take your confidentiality very seriously, and this will be discussed with you at our first meeting.

How can I get the most from my counselling?

There are a few ways you can get the most from your experience of counselling:

Keep an open mind and trust the process.

It is important to be honest.  I am not here to judge you, I am only here to help you.

Personal commitment is crucial to your success.  Counselling isn’t ‘done to you’, it’s about us working together.
